Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Global Technical Project Manager. This role is a key function in servicing our clients by ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to their demands, delivering efficient and excellent performance. The Technical Project Manager has daily responsibility to develop and maintain master schedule for Throughput and Key capacity utilization at constraint points (Drum) that supports the Cellular Management Operating System. The Technical Project Manager will technically supervise testing operations and give clear technical guidance as necessary across a wide range of the laboratory's testing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop constraint based major milestone planning approach and process for all strategic projects on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis
  • Responsibility for technical review of quotations
  • Review the full work scope to ensure that it can be executed in a safe way and at a high quality standard and if necessary ensuring a risk assessment is available
  • Establish work programmes for testing including planning and implementing test schedules
  • Review technical standards and requirements, and where appropriate write job specific test procedures, liaise with clients on all matters technical and status related.
  • Maintaining, developing and improving process within the laboratory at all levels and in all areas.
  • Provision of financial data relating to jobs under their control including accurate forecast of work to be completed
  • Provide technical leadership to the project team with support from senior colleagues and Technical Specialists
  • Arrange and supervise on-site witnessing by clients and representatives during testing
  • Perform review and audit activities on jobs including technical contract review, technical procedure review / audit, job start readiness review and job close review
  • Provide regular progress reports for the projects managed
  • Report and present results, closing projects and invoicing, create and archive job packs for each project
  • Carrying out internal audits and procedure/standard reviews as required
  • Provide technical training and development of support to staff
  • Client and site visits where required
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role of Project Manager


Skills / Qualifications

  • A formal qualification in an appropriate scientific discipline at degree level or above would be held, preferably in Electronics or Cellular technologies
  • Analytical problem solving skills
  • Adaptable and flexible in approach
  • APICS-CPIM certification strongly desired
  • 5 years in a planning or coordination role in a project based environment.
  • Demonstrated success in applying systems thinking to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated success in application of Lean Manufacturing and Operational improvement to improve a product, production process or work flow
  • Ability to support the training of others to a high technical standard
  • Familiarity with national and international testing standards in the field of cellular technologies.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of supporting software tools, highly IT literate
  • Working towards or member status of a relevant professional body
