DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Provides technical or mechanical support to internal and external teams to ensure products are manufactured/packaged accordance with specifications.
  • Conducts production part performance evaluations following internal and industrial test standards. Provides engineering solutions based on test result analysis.
  • Supports the creation of part specifications and packaging/production specifications.
  • Performs root cause analysis in response to nonconformance. Designs corrective actions and solutions to reduce defects with minimal cost.
  • Designs, tests and implements tools to support production operations.
  • Supports Nintendo of America Inc. (NOA) Corrective Action Request (CAR) initiatives.
  • Creates engineering documents specifying requirements for packaging, assembly, and quality control of retail finished goods.
  • Models, builds, tests, and refines jigs and tools used by production, refurb/reman/repair, and service teams.
  • Provides input and recommendations for design validation testing to qualify new components and packaging materials.
  • Perform evaluation of hardware accessories to determine compliance with necessary Nintendo guidelines and related regulations.
  • May rely on experience with fabrication processes, equipment, and materials to tailor designs to achieve the most practical balance of quality, speed, and cost.
  • Creates engineering documents specifying requirements for packaging, assembly, and quality control of retail finished goods.
  • Coordinates joint projects with Nintendo Company Limited (NCL) engineering teams to support production and supply chain related projects.
  • Point of contact for NCL teams developing shipping packaging and palletization configurations that meet NOA requirements.
  • Facilitates Japanese/English communication to ensure accurate and efficient exchange of technical information over a variety of subject scope.


SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Operational and theoretical knowledge of environmental, vibration, compression and impact stress testing methodologies.
  • Experience in high-volume automated and manual production environments (Familiarity with MES).
  • In-depth knowledge of packaging materials and associated performance testing protocols (Nintendo Standards, ISTA).
  • Strong background in part/component and assembly design, design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), functional dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, and creating data sets that fully define manufacturing requirements and critical qualit
  • Ability to communicate in fluent verbal and written Japanese and English.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 certification or equivalent capability.

This position is hybrid in Redmond, WA. Hybrid positions require regular onsite work following the schedule and guidelines for their division. This position is not open to fully remote status at this time.

This position includes a base salary range of $89,000 - $142,500 annually, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
