REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.
We are backed by the world's best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $9B in orders from some of the industry's largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.
Reporting to the Lead Vehicle Software Engineer, as a
Modeling and Simulation Engineer you will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge, experience, and creativity to build simulation environments to model the behavior of a seaglider that floats, hydrofoils, and flies in ground effect over water. The ideal candidate will have a background in software engineering and a deep understanding of MATLAB/Simulink modeling.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Design, build, and maintain simulation environments that support multiple engineers developing in parallel and integrating subsystems.
- Implement simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink and ensure they accurately represent the behavior of the system being modeled.
- Collaborate with other engineers across disciplines to integrate physical system and vehicle dynamics data into the simulation environment.
- Conduct software in the loop, processor in the loop, and hardware in the loop testing to validate models and simulation environments.
- Take sea trial test data and refine models to increase accuracy and reliability.
- Ensure that the simulation environment is scalable, robust, and capable of supporting large, complex simulations.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to modeling and simulation and recommend new tools and techniques to improve the simulation environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in modeling and simulation, with a strong focus on MATLAB/Simulink integration and test
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink and some experience with C/C++
- Experience designing and building simulation environments that support development by multiple engineers simultaneously across multiple subsystems
- Ability to work across disciplines to integrate physical system and vehicle dynamics data into a simulation environment
- Experience validating models against test data and refining models
- Experience with software in the loop, processor in the loop, and hardware in the loop testing
Desired Qualifications and Skills:- Master's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience in utilizing simulation to assist in DO-178C verification and validation
