DescriptionWe are hiring a Solutions Engineer to join our team!
Our Spare HQ is in Vancouver - BC, that said, this position is open to remote work options across Canada. If you like coming into an office, you can work from our HQ as desired, and we also provide a co-working stipend for those who wish to work in an office outside Vancouver.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will be the technical expert in the sales process and the internal technical voice of prospects.
You'll be able to blend business acumen, technical knowledge, and persuasion together while dealing with novel questions, understanding the pain points of prospects, and creating a compelling solution story on the fly.
About this roleIn this role, you will...
- Develop a deep technical knowledge of our products, including their strengths, limitations, and value-drivers;
- Understand technical requirements and translate those needs into tangible solutions;
- Partner with Account Executives on opportunities and site visits;
- Plan, prepare, and execute tailored product demonstrations to show how the product satisfies requirements and solves problems;
- Conduct Proof of Concepts (POCs), simulations, and sandbox exercises to demonstrate product capabilities
- Assist in answering and validating technical responses for RFPs;
- Be the product subject matter expert for the Growth and Marketing teams;
- Test new features and add prospect feature requests based on opportunity size;
- Own 1-2 ongoing implementations to ensure continued knowledge development and closeness to product and customers.
- Gain an understanding of the competitor landscape to better position Spare's products and solutions
- Approximately 20% travel to client sites for on-site evaluations, demonstrations, and support
About you You have...
- Proven experience with learning new technologies, ideally in a pre-sales environment - either as a Solutions Engineer, in Technical Support or Customer Success roles (ideally 3+ years of experience);
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to build rapport and credibility as a confident subject matter expect;
- Interest in working in a hybrid position: you will have a technical focus to solve problems but must also feel comfortable dealing with customers and coming up with well-crafted answers on the spot;
- Eagerness to always learn new things (from a complex product and its intricate use cases to language and industry jargon);
It will be considered a plus if you have:
- Experience working on long and complex sales cycles
- Experience selling to accounts with large average contract values (ACVs)
- Previous experience selling software to governments;
- Experience working in and/or passion for transit/transportation
- Technical experience with GIS, APIs or data science;
- Customer-facing experience in a pre-sales role;
- Proven to grow in an organization by self-learning new skills and competencies;
- Experience working with RFPs;
