Your Opportunity As the Cable Supported Bridge Program Leader, you will leverage your experience in the analysis, design, inspection and maintenance of long span bridges to support the growth of the Stantec Bridge Sector in the US, Canada and internationally. This national role will work directly with the Bridge Sector Leads in the US and Canada and well as with local office staff to pursue, win and deliver project to support our clients' goals and expectations. In addition, this role will interact closely with Stantec's Alternative Project Delivery (APD) program leaders on transportation infrastructure projects involving major bridges. You will serve a critical role growing our cable-supported bridge practice as well as managing the design and delivery of large projects and programs.
You will play a pivotal role in expanding our existing client and project base and in efforts to position the firm to acquire new cable-supported bridge business. As the Cable Supported Bridge Program Leader, you will be responsible for projects in various phases from project identification, pursuits and client development, conceptual planning including alternative delivery models, and leading a project from design through construction, inspection and maintenance - even managing these valuable assets for our clients around the world.
Your Key Responsibilities - Collaborate with Stantec's suspension bridge inspection and rehab experts to grow that area of practice. One potential area for growth is the redecking of suspension bridges and the inspection and dehumidification of suspension bridge main cables
- Serve as senior technical advisor or in a key staff role for complex bridge projects with a particular focus on cable-supported bridges
- Collaborate with the Bridge Sector Lead and regional bridge leadership team to identify upcoming cable-supported bridge projects and utilize Stantec's Pipeline system to track the Top 20 Bridge opportunities in the US and Canada
- Assist with client relationship building in US and internationally with a particular focus on long-span, cable-supported bridges
- Support the development of technical proposals and other promotional materials for complex bridge projects including both conventional and alternative delivery models.
- Contribution to the ongoing development of Stantec's bridge asset management program.
- Write and review engineering policies and procedures in area of expertise including the enhancement of a bridge sector quality manual and related guidance that will be implemented for all offices
- Collaborate with the Bridge Sector Lead and other senior staff in providing mentoring and guidance to engineering staff including development of training modules and internal webinar presentations
- Support the development and implementation of the bridge sector strategic plan
- Represent Stantec at professional conferences and actively participate in industry/committee meetings with organizations including International Cable Supported Bridge Owners Association (ICSBOA), Transportation Research Board (TRB), National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA) and others
- Write and present technical papers at national technical conferences to promote the Stantec brand and illustrate the technical expertise of Stantec staff
Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials - A wide range of experience with long-span bridges
- Strong technical skills in design of complex civil and structural projects. Expertise in limited access facilities with complex structures design
- An ability to manage large scale projects, programs, contractors and consultant partners
- Experienced at preparing powerful and impactful presentations utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint software
- Proven experience in asset management of major structures
- Experienced developing, negotiating, and managing scopes, schedules, and budgets
- Proven business development and marketing experience required
- Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff
Education and Experience Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng) licensed
Minimum of twenty (20) years of progressive engineering and project management experience
Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctorate (PhD.) degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is strongly preferred
