Job OverviewWNYT-TV/WNYA-TV/Me-TV: Albany-Schenectady-Troy, NY seeks an experienced Local Sales Manager. This position is responsible for leading a sales strategy that will focus on the development of new enterprise business to successfully deliver customer solutions through an integrated suite of media platforms including television, digital, mobile and other emerging products. The Local Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and supporting a strong, forward-thinking sales team and will successfully work with all levels of the New York Capital Region's business community. The position reports to the Director of Sales.
Job Responsibilities- Work to motivate, inspire, and coach members of the local sales team to achieve individual goals as well as station budget goals.
- Conduct timely, informative, energizing sales meetings that include on-going training with the intention of continuously elevating team performance.
- Develop relationships with key local clients and prospects.
- Actively participate in the sales process alongside sales team members and/or management.
- Responsible for setting the pace and constantly providing feedback to team members to improve their performance
- Hire, train and develop sales team members.
- Collaborate with Director of Research to produce insightful research pieces to support local sales efforts.
- Develop effective linear and digital strategies and programs to assist the local sales team with multi-tasking the sale of a variety of initiatives simultaneously (i.e. station initiatives, seasonal sponsorships, local sports sponsorship franchises).
- Collaborate with DOS to manage inventory and revenue forecasting
- Assist local sales team members in accurately forecasting future revenue potential.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- BA or BS in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and successful work-related experience.
- Strong verbal, written, mathematical, and analytical skills.
- Creative and flexible with a positive attitude.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in broadcast media sales.
- Prior experience with teaching, training and recruiting; proven ability to help people grow and motivate to be better sales people.
- Ability to establish and maintain customer relationships.
- Established track record of creating and closing client-based solutions.
- Proven track record for achieving and exceeding sales budgets in adverse market conditions.
- Knowledge of rating analysis, spot schedules and traffic systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and familiar with Nielsen, comScore, Scarborough, Ad-Intel, Wide Orbit Sales Traffic, and Matrix Monarch CRM.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter who is able to work effectively on your own as well as collaborating in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of both broadcast sales as well as digital sales, in order to create solutions for clients.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver 's license and a safe driving history as determined by the Company (driving record will be checked).
Compensation and BenefitsWhen extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations. The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000.
