Job Description
Duties / responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing specialized technical and product support for company hosted solutions, this includes troubleshooting and debugging complex software solutions.
- Improve and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
- Systems Administration/System Engineer experience.
- Experience with Linux.
- Experience with Bash/Python.
- Experience with problem tracking tools (e.g. ClearQuest, Bugzilla, JIRA);
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff in difficult or conflictive situations.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances.
- Experience with JMS (WebSphereMQ or ActiveMQ) is a plus.
- Experience with Operating system-level virtualization (Docker) is a plus.
- Knowledge in area of IT services best practices (ITIL) will be a plus;
- Service Now knowledge is a plus.
