Job DescriptionThe Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing various areas for Carnival Corporation & plc's globally developed and operated ports as well as projects under development. Including but not limited to: Fixed Assets and General accounting. This individual will work with multi-national teams and will also interact with Global Accounting and Reporting, Treasury, Tax, Risk Management and Financial Technology departments. This position will provide support for joint venture reporting as well as joint venture funding. This individual will help draft policies for the Global Ports Group. The individual in this role is expected to take ownership and be accountable for deliverables and be a key contributor to our continuous process improvement and robust internal control philosophy. This position will play an integral role in the month-end closing and reporting process, review of Balance Sheet reconciliations and journal entries, and support the oversight of the Bahamas Operations. This individual will prepare quarterly disclosure checklists as well as the Bahamas Ports Checklist. The qualified candidate is an experienced accounting professional who is innovative, has proven people leadership skills, and strong communication skills. The candidate needs to excel in a fast paced and tight timeline environment. A high level of self-sufficiency and the ability to work through problems is critical for success.
Essential Functions: - Monthly review of journal entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations, including ensuring all entries are supported by appropriate documentation and in accordance with GAAP. May include preparation and ownership of specific journal entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Support the oversight of the Bahamas Operations including Accounting, Reporting, and Compliance.
- Monitor compliance with fiscal requirements, global and local policies and procedures. Including internal controls. May include updating or creating new policies and controls as needed.
- Perform routine financial statement analysis to assist in ensuring financial statements are of the highest quality and perform other accounting & reporting tasks as required/requested. Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial information required for internal reporting.
- Preparation of the Quarterly Disclosure Checklist and the Bahamas Ports Checklist.
- Support and oversight of joint venture reporting and funding.
- Various administrative accounting responsibilities (i.e., requesting modification thru Financial Applications Support Ticketing Tool, maintenance of system generated entries, etc.).
- Assist management with ad hoc requests and special projects as needed. Such as the implementation of Oracle Fixed Asset Module across all our ports.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field of study
- Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification is required
- Minimum 5 years of Accounting or related experience, supervisor/management experience a plus
- Must have strong Microsoft Excel as well as a proficient knowledge of other Microsoft applications. Oracle, Blackline and Hyperion knowledge is highly desirable.
- Fluent in reading and speaking in Spanish a plus. Ability to lead a team of 1-2 direct reports.
- Industry knowledge a plus

Must be detail-oriented in document review or preparation; but also an innovative and strategic thinker to help realize potential process efficiencies. Tenacious in meeting deadlines and adept at managing peak workloads. Must be self-motivated and be able to handle several functions at one time by being very well organized as the position will be required to simultaneously manage several projects. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English, with all levels of staff and management. Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative communication style. Uncompromising personal integrity, as well as a high level of respect for all individuals. Ability to easily adapt to changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Work Location: This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
