Ensuring all PPE is worn correctly is the first line of defense followed by training and enforcement of specific safety policies such as but not limited to LOTO, exception rule utilization, winder threading, knife replacement, separating sheet, measuring core placement and forklift operation. In addition to the behavioral side the Lead operator is also responsible for the hazard conditions that could be created from the areas not being maintained from a good house keep standpoint or 5s standard. These types of conditions are the main source of slip trips and falls and should be easily prevented with the lead operator's attention.Environmental: Apply work habits that demonstrate the acknowledgement and requirement of following all environmental policies, procedures, and work practices in a high-risk environment; demonstrate knowledge and appropriate use of hazardous materials in promoting a safe and compliant work environment.Quality: The Lead Operator will be tasked with ensuring that all quality requirements both internal and external are met. This requirement will be met with an audit process of the operators work completed throughout the shift. Any issues resulting in the creation of Scrap over 1000lbs, MRB or ARG will result in the lead operator being a part of the investigation process and corrective action.Attention to Detail:Able to be alert in a safety-sensitive environment; follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation and data; carefully monitor gauges, instruments or processes; concentrate on routine work details.Customer Focus:Able to demonstrate a high level of service delivery; do what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.Teamwork: The Lead Operator will create a positive work environment while developing rapport with operators, maintenance and logistics. The Lead Operator is the knowledge source for all problems the Operator may incur daily and is challenged with finding an effective method to communicate / train each of the operators on their respective shift.Policies/Processes/Procedures: The Lead Operator will follow all the organizations policies and procedures while ensure the Operators within their control do the same. They will remain in good standing with the company and not receive greater than a second level discipline within a given year. (75) pounds.Frequent lifting and/or moving of objects up to ninety (90) pounds and occasional maneuvering of objects over 100 lbs. may be required with assistance from a co-worker.Requires use of both hands with occasional repetitive hand movements.Visual acuity is required for reading and computer work.Frequent bending, stooping, and stair climbing are required with occasional reaching and squatting required.Requires 80% standing and/or walking and 20% sitting.Works a 12-hour rotating shift (36/48-hour rotation).EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:Assists in the supervision of Extrusion Operators.DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED:70% minimalCAREER PATH:The next opportunity for upward progression in the Production area for the Lead Operator is the Shift Supervisor position.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Works with the Shift Supervisor and Extrusion Operator to make sure that goals on production, safety, quality, scrap, and housekeeping are established and met on an hourly (daily)basis.Monitors each line by doing quality checks on the product and visual checks on the machinery to maintain top quality and limit equipment failure.Performs SWFL checks throughout shiftEstablishes and maintains teamwork between all members of shift and the dept.Reports all safety hazards immediately to Shift Supervisor.Assists in making order changes and makes sure they are performed efficiently and effectively, minimizing scrap and maintaining good quality.Ensures that quality checks are done on time and documented on QC log.Reads all shop orders and spec sheets and makes sure all special instructions are followed and carried out.Ensures employees have the right tools to do the job.Makes sure all scrap rolls and boxes are being weighed and labeled per procedure.Communicates to other dept.
