JOB SUMMARY As a Sanitation team member, this person is responsible for properly cleaning and sanitizing the facility, warehouse, and production areas in accordance with strict food safety standards. Regular tasks may also include properly cleaning parts, equipment, conveyors, production line equipment, and various other areas of the building. Uses cleaning materials as instructed and in accordance with best food safety practices. This is an evening shift.
Ensure maximum efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of legislative, compliance, and meeting company specifications. Provides direction, training, and motivation to team members, using recognition, constructive feedback, and other rewards with appropriate discretion in a continuous improvement environment. Follows all health and safety standards and enforces the use of PPEs. Ensures the use of machinery, chemicals, and tools are used in accordance with company policies and are properly documented.
Requirements
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment and maintaining a safe working atmosphere.
- Responsible for proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, parts, rooms, and tools as outlined in the company SSOP procedures and follows all safety, quality, and GMP procedures.
- Consistently follows all standard operating procedures. This may include disassembling, cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembling parts, or equipment.
- Responsible for successfully disposing of waste, safe ways of working, and handling of chemicals and inventory.
- Understands the application of food-grade chemicals and their proper use.
- Follow all company safety requirements (LOTO, chemical use, PPE, etc.)
- Reports food safety-related issues to the management team.
- Follows all food safety, safety, environmental, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintains inventory of sanitation supplies, ensuring all containers are properly labeled.
- Ensures that all equipment is in safe and operating status. Ensure that any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS •High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
•Previous work experience in a food manufacturing facility is helpful.
•Bilingual English / Spanish is helpful but not required.
•Able to work nights and weekends on a regular basis.
•Ability to work overtime hours when needed.
•Knowledge of routine Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and in a food environment
•Self-starter and able to work well in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES •Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
•Knowledge of common safety requirements and expectations
•Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
•Ability to work in a cold/damp environment and stand for extended periods.
WORK DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this Job it is primarily working in a warehouse or chilled factory environment with prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting medium to heavy weight objects. Regularly required to grab, carry items, talk, or hear with frequent use of hands to finger, handle, lift, or feel. Regularly exposed to chilled temperatures.
