Description The Fortune Society, Inc. The organization has evolved into one of the nation's preeminent reentry and justice-informed service organizations, providing formerly incarcerated people with the skills and wrap-around services needed to break the cycle of crime and incarceration and to build productive lives in their communities. Fortune has a highly specialized skill set to serve this population, with over 54 years of experience serving formerly incarcerated individuals in New York City and over 20 years of experience managing supportive housing.
Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for tenants, staff, and guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor all tenants and guests entering and leaving the building.
- Document all activities in the communication logbook.
- Regularly patrol tenant floors and administrative offices.
- Regularly patrol perimeter checks of the building.
- Intervene in crisis situations and provide appropriate support when necessary.
- Gather and maintain work order requests and submit to maintenance.
- Conduct an orientation to the building for all tenants (i.e., emergency exits, procedures for trash removal, laundry, etc.).
- Answer phones and direct calls as required.
- Monitor security cameras; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED/HSE or related experience.
- Experience working in an institutional setting and/or providing security services.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid a plus.
- Will be required to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification after employment; Comfortable with computer-based data entry and using Microsoft Office;
- Good written and verbal communication skills.

Hourly Rate: $20.00 hourly

Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to the Harlem and/or Long Island City offices for meetings or trainings.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically monitor hallways of a 12 floor building.
- Must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs when needed.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
