JOB SUMMARY:
The Plant Maintenance Technician position is associated with the maintenance and upkeep of WRI's used oil and wastewater receiving and treatment plant operational equipment. The position is responsible for the safety, quality and profitability of all activities performed. • Responsible for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment to assure a safe operating condition.
• Responsible for repair of plant equipment including valves, piping, pumps, automated control systems, and electrical systems.
• Responsible for the installation and/or modification of equipment associated with plant upgrades
• Maintains cleanliness of facility and safe operation conditions at all time by complying with operational, regulatory, Health & Safety and WRI rules
• May be required to assist with industrial wastewater and/or used oil recovery operations consisting of:
o bulk liquid transfer operations involving incoming trucks and tankers
o performing treatment of wastewaters and waste oils
• Adheres to company policies and procedures and effectively communicates feedback, guidance and mentoring support to technician employees
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 3 years experience in maintenance of pumps, valves and related plant equipment
• Experience in water treatment, waste water treatment or similar industrial plant operations including automated control systems such as tank level indicators, automated valve systems, etc.
• Good communication (both written and verbal) and analytical skills and ability to interact effectively with others
• Ability to read Mechanical and Electrical schematic drawings
• Ability to perform welding, piping/plumbing and electrical work on plant equipment
• Must be multi-task oriented and have strong time management, organizational, and problem solving skills.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards, and other regulatory standards.
• Ability to work in a wide range of environments including those involving being outdoors with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and extreme heat in summer
• Ability to lift 50 lbs approximately 10 times per shift and climbs ladders up to 30 feet several times per day, including bending, stooping and walking up to 90% of nine-hour daily shift
• Must have appropriate licenses, in good standing and meet applicable WRI driving requirements to operate company vehicles and equipment.
• May be required to operate forklift, pressure washer and occasionally drive company vehicle.
• Ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
• Must participate in and successfully complete annual training courses in occupational safety and environmental regulations as outlined by the WRI employee development program. Minimum training requirements include:
o 29 CFR 1910.147 OSHA Confined Space Training
o 29 CFR 1910.151 OSHA First Aid and CPR Certified
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
