Position Description
The Diver 1 works below the surface of water, using surface supplied commercial diving or saturation diving equipment to inspect, repair, remove, or install equipment and structures in accordance with project specifications. This position will be specifically for Hurricane Response work.
Position Essential Job Functions
Project Logistics:
• Understand the operational parameters of all diving related equipment
• Repair such equipment as he or she is qualified to check-out to repair
• Be alert for and immediately report conditions that may be hazardous or unsafe
• Properly operate a decompression chamber as required for decompression or treatment as directed
• Properly complete all paperwork as required by employer policy and/or governmental regulations
• Do not perform any other task while operating the chamber
• Perform tasks as a bell standby diver directed by the supervisor
• Report to the diving supervisor any recent medical treatment or illness so that a proper determination can be made concerning fitness and/or ability to dive
• Immediately report all symptoms or suspected symptoms of DCS to the diving supervisor as early and accurately as possible
• Report to the diving supervisor any defect or malfunction of the diving equipment provided for the diving operation
• Perform routine maintenance on diving equipment
• Maintain a diver log book documenting all hyperbaric exposures
• Maintain log of experience for the purpose of updating corporate resume
• Read, understand and comply with all employer's policies and applicable governmental regulations, as they relate to their qualifications or performance while engaging in diving operations
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Commercial diver training diploma from an Association of Diving Educators
Experience
Must be 18 years of age or older
Minimum 36 months field experience in commercial diving operations
Completed 600 working field days
Minimum 30 days working on bell/saturation operations (for bell diver)
Completed 400 working dives
Minimum 100 working dives and recommended 25 Mixed gas dives (for bell diver)
Knowledge/Skills
ADCI Mixed Gas Diver Card, ADCI Mixed Gas Supervisor's Card
ADCI Bell/SAT Diver Certification Card (for Bell Diver)
Possess the knowledge and ability to perform the specific tasks under water and topside as assigned by the project supervisor
Adequate knowledge of diving theory and practice
Thorough understanding in the use of the USN and company air and mixed gas decompression tables
Driver's license and acceptable driving record
Passport and TWIC card
Valid and current FA, BLS CPR, AED, & DAN 02
Personal resume
Current dive hat inspection, current EGS inspection noting last visual and hydro test
HAZWOPER, H2S, Safe Gulf or Rig Pass, HUET or BOISET, API Rigging, 10hr OSHA certification
GDS Supervisor Training
Current GDS mandatory training and other required programs
Physical / Mental Requirements
Ability to work any day of the week both night and day
Ability to travel to project sites and work approximately 30 days on at a time
Available for after hour emergency response
Ability to complete pre-employment drug test and participate in random drug and alcohol testing program
Ability to successfully complete a background check
Ability to lift up to 50lbs., must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive hand use
Ability to meet DOT, ADCI, USCG, or HAZMAT physical & additional fitness ability requirements for the position in which you are filling. Maintain a current physical "within one year" before being exposed to hyperbaric conditions, as "FIT TO DIVE"
