The team:
Scotiabank’s Global Technology and Enterprise Platform (GTEP), Solutions Integration & Delivery (SI&D) organization is deeply rooted and integrated into Scotiabank’s business lines. The SI&D team supports strategic and operational goals with our global CIOs and business stakeholders to deliver high quality and highly performing enterprise infrastructure services.
The role:
Reporting to the Director, Solutions Engineering, you will be a part of a team that’s responsible for working closely with application owners and leadership teams, across all business areas globally, to provide reliable, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions. You are expected to provide technical insights in the engineering & design of infrastructure solutions and drive forward the bank’s Public Cloud Acceleration strategy. In this technology leadership role, you will also be a part of establishing design patterns for Public Cloud migration, as well as proving mentorship to the infrastructure and application development teams in their Public Cloud journey. When required, you could be assisting on major incidents.

- You are prepared to foster technical vitality across the Solutions Engineering team by ensuring all staff develop comprehensive plans to increase their knowledge and skill level in public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.
- You are comfortable in solving complex hybrid cloud integration challenges.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- You can demonstrate excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to confidently convey ideas & recommendations on solution(s) to both a business & technical audience of decision maker(s) and/or stakeholders. The ability to do the same in Spanish and/or French is an asset.
- You have at least 8+ years of technical working experience in working closely with Application Teams to provide comprehensive solutions across a broad infrastructure service area, such as servers, Operating Systems, storage, networks, virtualization, middleware, and database platforms.
- You have at least 4+ years of hands-on technical working experience in architecting & deploying full-stack applications in Public Cloud (GCP & Azure preferred).
- You have at least 4+ years of hands-on technical working experience in the end-to-end design/planning/implementation of the migration of applications from an internal on-prem data center to the Public Cloud.
- You have at least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Kubernetes (k8s), CI/CD pipeline, and the infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) toolset.
- You can clearly demonstrate the ability to influence staff & senior management and, as well, promote a high level of understanding and acceptance of the risks, issues and practices of outsourcing and cloud-based services in a rapidly evolving, competitive world.
- You can demonstrate an advanced technical understanding of emerging technologies, operational best practices, development methodologies and technical architecture that would be beneficial to Scotiabank’s global Infrastructure.
- Technical knowledge of data analytics platforms & Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) capabilities is an asset.
- You have a post-secondary education in Computer Science or Engineering or in a relevant field.
- An asset to have completed a Public Cloud Architect certification (GCP and/or Azure and/or AWS) in good standing.
