Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Data Analyst for the Office of Advanced Research Computing. The Rutgers Clinical & Research Data Warehouse (CRDW) Data Analyst position involves contributing to various aspects of clinical research data management, analysis, and visualization.
Key Duties Assists in maintaining data quality, performing analytical tasks, developing visualization techniques, and aiding in the selection and application of analytical tools within a clinical research data warehouse context.
Uses EPIC data structures and other healthcare-related data systems.
Leads team efforts to ensure data Quality Assurance (QA) processes are effectively implemented, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of clinical research data within the data warehouse.
Develops data visualization techniques to present findings and insights effectively, aiding in the interpretation and communication of results to stakeholders.
Develops analytical workflows, optimizing processes for data acquisition, analysis, and reporting within the clinical research context.
Recommends, selects and implements appropriate analytical tools and methodologies to support research teams in leveraging data for analysis.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
3 years of experience in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven experience in data analysis, data quality assurance, and data visualization within a clinical research or healthcare environment.
Certification from the EPIC health system and experience working with data structures and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Experience working with clinical research data warehouses or similar healthcare data systems.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and/or Human Subjects regulations for clinical research.
Familiarity with medical ontologies (e.g., ICD-9/10 and CPT codes).
Proficiency in analytical tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar tools for data manipulation and analysis.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, etc.) to create impactful visual representations of data.
Understanding of analytical workflows and the ability to contribute to their development and optimization.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, PhD, etc.)
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in data management for clinical research (e.g., HIPAA).
Experience in developing, maintaining, and managing IT applications and systems.
Familiarity with REDCap for building and managing online databases and surveys.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing.
Visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, reading, analyzing written information/data, etc.
