Job Description
Posted: 2024-10-29
Closing: Until Filled
Location: Bridgewater Bank, Calgary (hybrid)
As far back as you can remember, you’ve always had a passion for technology. Even at a young age, you’d be the one helping your parents figure out the new TV remote (and VCR and the microwave…you get the picture). And the moment you first sat down at a computer, you knew it was true love. You’re passionate about supporting applications but also analyzing what’s working and what isn’t, because to you, there’s magic in making things run smoothly.
WHAT MOVES YOU
Your attention to detail is so impressive, you’ve earned the nickname “eagle eyes”.
You genuinely love interacting with people and finding ways to make a difference in their day.
You have strong written and verbal communication skills and the uncanny ability to get your point across in a way that everyone understands.
You’re a master juggler — of projects, that is. Seriously, you’ve got some mad multi-tasking and prioritization skills, but never let a tight timeline impact your high-quality results.
Your favourite noun is teamwork – working well with others comes as naturally to you as breathing, but you don’t mind working solo either.
You never need to be told what to do…when you see something that needs doing, you get on it!
You’re a lifelong learner who picks up new things quickly. And we like that about you.
You’re both a right-and-left-brained thinker. Your innovative side is balanced by your quantitative analytical abilities.
You’ve never met a problem you couldn’t solve.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Report to the Manager, IT Applications
Ensure banking applications and support processes are maintained and remain stable, reliable, accurate, and secure to minimize risk to customers and the Bank.
Develop and maintain software applications to assist the bank.
Monitor IT dashboard to ensure applications and support processes are working correctly.
Design, develop and troubleshoot scripts, database queries, indexes and automated jobs.
Understand, improve, and enforce company IT best practices and policies.
Cross-train with Business Intelligence team and act as backup for Business Intelligence Analysts.
Create processes and documents that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our IT Operations Team.
Participate in development and continuous improvement of application support processes.
Develop queries or reports that provide required business information.
Answer questions to help business solve technology issues through research or pre-existing expertise.
Participate in projects as a developer or technical resource.
Collaborate in the planning, design, development, quality assurance, documentation and deployment of IT projects.
WHAT YOU’VE DONE
You have post-secondary education in computer sciences or equivalent industry experience.
You’ve been around this block before and have at least two years technical/application support and production support experience.
You've got experience using GITHUB to manage code.
You’re no newbie to the financial industry – a bit of knowledge will earn you bonus points!
You have strong SQL skills to assist with process automation, report writing and custom queries.
You've worked with SSIS to develop and maintain ETLs.
You have an understanding of encryption of files and data communication.
More bonus points if you have any software development experience, particularly C#.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
Outstanding employer-paid Retirement Savings Program.
Great AMA discounts.
Unlimited learning opportunities.
Paid vacation and ME day.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
