Position – Technical Director Art
We are looking for an experienced Technical Director Art to join the Haven Entertainment Studios project team. As a Technical Director Art in charge of map production, you will be contributing to the technical vision of the different pipelines to produce our content (Level Art, Lighting, VFX, Modeling, Texturing). You will be responsible for the data produced by the map team ensuring its technical compliance. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary group by representing the art team and by solving technical challenges to help the ease of integration of art content into the game whilst achieving exceptional visual quality. You will foster the success of the map team by identifying, sharing, and enforcing best practices for AAA map production in Unreal Engine.
Reporting
The Technical Director Art will report to the Head of Central Technology.
Responsibilities and Duties Collaborate with other core team members to develop/support the technical vision for map production.
Technical in-depth map and asset reviews.
Enforce and propagate best practices.
Coach and support artists, including outsourcing partners on tools and processes.
Bridge communication between design and programming.
Technical documentation maintenance (how-to guides, procedures, etc.).
Debugging and troubleshooting issues reported by artists or QA.
Performance monitoring support.
Experience and Skills Required Shipped at least one AAA console game.
Experience working with Houdini and VEX (Houdini Shading Language).
Experienced in writing tools with Python.
Experience of creating custom shaders.
Good working knowledge of 3D/2D packages.
Deep knowledge of art pipelines and able to create tools and scripts to maintain these.
Good communication with both technical and non-technical team members.
Strong organizational skills.
Self-motivated with a strong collaborative and teamwork oriented mindset.
Thrive on achieving superior results.
Good at troubleshooting complex problems.
Good at debugging and fixing tools.
Preferred Qualifications Experience on live game.
Shipped game @60fps.
Python and blueprint scripting.
Experience on unreal engine.
Experience with procedural tools (Houdini).
Experience on Shooter type game.
Experience in Blender.
PS5 experience.
Familiarity with Sony’s PlayStation tools.
Unreal Engine experience (UE5).
Understanding of modern graphics APIs and paradigms (Vulkan, DX12).
