Job Summary
Reporting to the SVP, Chief Information, the Director, IT Platform Operations will work within an agile development process, collaborating across the IT and business functions to iteratively implement strategic IT deliverables. This role is responsible for defining, overseeing, and executing on Infrastructure, DevOps and platform strategies and initiatives aligned with departmental goals and business strategies.
Responsibilities
Strategy Development: Drive, update, maintain and continuously improve the overall infrastructure strategy roadmap over the next three to 5 years from ‘As Is’ to ‘To Be’ target state. This will include network, compute, and storage for both on-prem and cloud. In addition, monitor business strategies and provide input to external technology solutions and services to support the business direction and technology sustainability.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership and strategic direction to the team of data center, cloud end user management and DevOps employees with ongoing coaching and evaluation of their skills and abilities to ensure business objectives are met while delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with the business and IT Leadership to provide input on the infrastructure foundation for overall application design, compliance, governance, and maintenance of the technologies to support business objectives.
Project Management: Lead and participate in cross functional projects as required and provide high level estimates for project proposals and solution designs.
Performance Analysis: Oversee the development, monitoring and reporting of relevant platform operational KPIs.
Performance Standards: Drive high-quality infrastructure architectural standards to support functionality, reusability, reliability, availability, and security.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by monitoring and evaluating infrastructure metrics and identifying the need for process enhancements.
System Maintenance: Oversight of typical maintenance activities including patching, backups, monitoring, asset management, incident management and root cause analysis. Lead the development and maintenance of end user platforms, with a focus on simplicity and sustainability.
Business Recovery: Responsible for the design, implementation and testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning for all core transactional platforms and services.
Governance: Partner with the Director, Security & Audit to ensure the alignment of the infrastructure and support processes with audit, compliance, and governance requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
8+ years of progressive people management experience leading IT professionals.
5+ years of direct experience with ITSM, Project Management, Application Delivery, Technical or business systems architecture.
Demonstrated experience with design-centered thinking with a focus on problem definition and resolution with the ability to coach and guide others in this methodology.
Thrives in an agile, fast-paced, and delivery-focused environment with the demonstrated ability to motivate and instill this work ethic in others.
Proven ability to quickly consume and understand business strategy and operating models.
Prior experience applying gap analysis techniques to provide input into the long-term technical strategy.
Demonstrated solid understanding of key business and technology disciplines including strategy, governance, ITSM, Infrastructure, SDLC, DevOps.
Experience in both Infrastructure and SDLC practices, with focus on DevOps, is preferred.
Experience with cloud administration and engineering practices on AWS or Azure.
Expertise in Virtualization technologies (VMWare, VDI, Cloud).
Knowledge of VoIP and Call Center technologies.
Experience with DevOps automation, build and deployment toolsets including Jira, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Docker, etc.
Previous experience in supporting a business in dealing with regulation, audit and SOC2 controls documentation and testing of its business systems is an asset.
Superior problem-solving and organization skills with the demonstrated ability to coach and mentor a team of IT professionals to build similar skills.
Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills enabling the exchange of technical information with non-technical users.
