Summary: Primarily responsible for assisting the Plant Operator in the daily intake and processing of petroleum waste, cleaning of filters, process tanks, waste containers and vacuum tanker trucks as well as general cleaning and site maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the facility. Specialized training and certification in confined entry permit may be required. May operate pressure washers, drum grapplers, vacuum trucks and other material handling equipment or trucks.
Pay Rate: $20.00 an hour Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Availability to work overtime on week days and Saturdays as required
- Inventory, log, handle and process waste in vacuum trucks, drums and portable tanks.
- Assist with the offloading of bulk liquid waste into storage tanks.
- Consolidate drummed waste into storage tanks and rolloff containers .
- Ability to read and understand OSHA safety regulations and perform all tasks safely.
- Maintain up to date training and education for licenses, permits and regulatory information specific to responsibilities.
- Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
- Operate machines or equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.
- Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, using hoists or forklifts.
- Clean and maintain secondary containment areas.
- Use manual and power equipment to maintain landscaping areas and perform snow removal.
- Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager or Operator.
Qualification/Requirements: - At least 18 years old.
- Valid unrestricted driver's license with an excellent driving record within company standards.
- The ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed.
- The ability to travel and work at remote sites as needed.
- Basic math, mechanical, teamwork and troubleshooting skills are required.
- Must pass fit for duty physical, drug and alcohol screening, and detailed background check
Education/Training/Experience :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of safety, mechanical, Hazmat, equipment and/or equivalent training
- Prior construction experience helpful, but not required

- The employee must lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

- The work is primarily performed in the field, outdoors in the heat or cold for 8-12 hours per day. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
- To reduce exposure to harmful materials, workers often wear coveralls, gloves, shoe covers, safety glasses, or goggles. Some must wear fully enclosed protective suits for several hours at a time; these suits may be hot and uncomfortable and may cause the workers who wear them to experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces). In extremely toxic cleanups, hazmat workers are required to wear respirators or personal air monitors.
