Your responsibilities

The Millwright is responsible for performing heavy mechanical work such as inspection, disassembly, assembly, and new installation of heavy industrial equipment and components mainly at cement production facilities. The machineries include, but are not limited to kilns, raw- and finish mills, material handling, and processing equipment. The applicant is required to follow instructions from the Field Supervisor and positively integrate and contribute within the Field Service crew. thyssenkrupp Polysius North America, Inc. utilizes the multi-skill concept and expects the employee to perform other job disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow Daily work Procedures and Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks.
  • Properly follow all industry-related MSHA/OSHA /thyssenkrupp Polysius North America, Inc. safety procedures.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner utilizing all required PPE, being constantly aware of others in the work area.
  • Ability to follow instructions of the Superintendent/Supervisor and work with others in a team environment.
  • Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent/Supervisor or Safety Manager.
  • Inspection, disassembly, and assembly of heavy industrial equipment and components.
  • Using overhead and/or jib cranes, forklifts, man-lifts, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, hand tools, and torches as required.
  • Use hoists, pulleys, jacks, and come-a-longs to perform tasks.
  • Use basic rigging knowledge to set up hoisting for removal and installation of machine components.
  • Signals crane operator in setting of machine parts and equipment during assembly and disassembly.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together in various body positions and assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces.
  • Bolt, weld, and cut material as needed Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assists with tool trailer and warehouse organization.
  • Performs maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will have no supervisor responsibilities.

Your profile

Required Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a Maintenance Technician journeyman in construction of heavy industrial equipment, cement & mining, petrochemical, power generation, or similar construction. An equivalent combination of education, supervisory experience, and related construction experience may be considered.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Punctual and having the ability to manage time independently with minimal supervision.
  • Hands on and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Quality mindset.
  • Must have knowledge of basic bolting, welding and flame cutting
  • Able to use hand, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
  • Operating knowledge of hoists, pulleys, jacks, and come-a-longs.
  • Familiarity with basic hand signals and basic rigging knowledge including safe working load limits.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate and plan work in accordance to established schedules and procedures.
  • Safety conscious; contributing to a safe working environment for oneself and all others.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening and an ongoing drug screening is required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift, carry and move 50 lb.
  • Industrial Equipment (forklift, man-lift, scissor lift, Telehandler etc.) operator a plus.
  • MSHA trained and knowledgeable of MSHA/OSHA regulations.

Travel Demands:

  • This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States. Employee is regularly required to be away from home for several weeks at a time.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime (including nights, weekends, and holidays along with working outdoors in all weather conditions).
  • A valid US Driver's license is required.
  • Optional International Travel and Ability to obtain a TWIC card:
  • Valid Passport Optional.
