Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems by performing the following duties.nnWhat you’ll be doing:nnIncludes the following. Other duties may be assigned.nnVisually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.nnListen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction. Review variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.nnDismantles defective machines, tools, fixtures, and other equipment and installs new or repaired parts.nnCleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.nnInstalls and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.nnLays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.nnRepairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.nnInstalls, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.nnOperates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.nnFabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.nnMonitor and report (to supervisor) all lock-out and tag-out procedure violations.nnInterprets blueprints.nnMeasures, marks and scribes material for machining.nnSets up and operates bandsaw, grinder, drill, milling machine, table shaper, router, upright drills, edge sander, mitre saw, lathe, milling machine, and related woodworking equipment, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures.nnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.nnMATHEMATICAL SKILLS:nnAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to use basic geometry and trigonometry.nnREASONING ABILITY:nnAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
