Powell is an engineer to order manufacturer of switchgear. We are seeking an experienced Lead Quality Inspector to join our team. A Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products or services meet established quality standards and specifications. They perform inspections, tests, and audits to identify any defects or deviations from quality requirements. Quality Inspectors use various tools and techniques to measure and evaluate the quality of materials, components, and finished products. They document and report any non-conformities and work closely with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Additionally, they may participate in the development and improvement of quality control processes and procedures.nnEssential ResponsibilitiesnnTo train their Inspection Crew in the Final Inspection and Test of Bus duct, Low and Medium voltage Motor Control, Low and Medium voltage Switchgear and PCR.nnTo train their Inspection Crew to perform these tests if necessary for Powell Customers and/or their representatives during witnessed customer inspections.nnInspect and test all equipment manufactured at Powell facilities.nnInterface with shop, engineering, sales, customers and shipping.nnAttend department safety and training meetings.nnAttend pre-inspection meetings with sales and customers.nnAssist in scheduling Customer Inspections.nnAdhere to all company policies and safety rules.nnRecord shop discrepancies and shortages.nnRecord engineering discrepancies.nnCheck all test/inspection documentation completed by crew.nnCheck all shipping documentation completed by crew.nnCheck that all maintenance on assigned test equipment has been completed.nnReview and turn in all inspection documentation.nnSupervises Inspection crew and trains all inspectors.nnAssist Inspection Supervisor in daily supervision of department.nnAct as backup Inspection Supervisor in Inspection Supervisors absence.nnMinimum QualificationsnnHigh School Diploma or General Education Diploma.nnMinimum 8 years of experience in the industrial electrical field and/or associate degree in electrical technology.nnMinimum 3 years supervisory skills.nnAdvanced knowledge of electrical theory.nnProficient with the use of handheld test equipment such as multi meter, clamp-on meter, voltage detector, etc.nnProficient with the use of handheld test equipment such as multi meter, clamp-on meter, voltage detector, etc.nnSkills, Abilities & Other RequirementsnnAbility to answer technical questions from shop, inspectors, and customers.nnAbility to interact on a regular basis with shop, inspection, engineering, sales and shipping personnel.nnAble to apply product knowledge and technical skills to aid in problem solving.nnBasic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel and Access.nnKnowledge of IEEE standards for Circuit Breakers, Switchgear, Switches and Transformers applicable to Powell equipment.nnKnowledge of NEMA standards applicable to Powell equipment.nnKnowledge of National Electric Code as applicable to Powell equipment.nnAble to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings.nnBasic understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products.nnAbility to apply industry standards as applicable to job and product.nnInnovative to improve existing products.nnKnowledge of Standard First Aid and CPR.nnTechnical writing skills.nnWorking ConditionsnnOutdoor/Indoor construction/manufacturing environment primarily temperature controlled.
