Duties & Responsibilities Summary: Assistant Vice Provosts serve in a senior leadership capacity to provide oversight of the implementation of strategic academic and faculty affairs initiatives. They ensure long-term goals are supported by the appropriate allocation of faculty, staff, space, and financial resources and are accountable for strategic and long-term planning, implementation, and assessment of major partnerships and initiatives with significant mission-critical impact.
- This is an enterprise wide position
- Responsible for the University's community engagement and outreach vision and mission to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure goals are supported by the appropriate allocation of faculty, staff, space, and financial resources
Typical Duties - Responsible for sharing university policy and program changes and implementing university decisions in their assigned areas
- Provides input on the formulation and implementation of polices relevant to their assigned areas
Qualifications Preferred Qualifications - advanced degree
- 3-5 years of experience
Minimum Qualifications - 1-3 years of experience
- 4 year degree
Typical Education and Experience - Experience with long range strategic planning and implementation
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the University's enduring purpose
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen to multiple viewpoints while building consensus and collegiality
- Knowledge of policy formulation and analysis methods to establish practical policies
- Demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
