To make changeovers as directed. To repair any breakdowns or machinery malfunctions as quickly as possible. Perform the preventive maintenance duties regarding the production equipment. Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machine tools, material handling system, and automated lubrication system.nnESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:nnResponsible for complying with food safety, food security, Quality, GMP’s, HAACP, Allergen, and Sensitizer as well as other regulations as required.nnWill be certified in the operations of all machinery in his or her area of responsibility.nnResponsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the product run on the lines based on specifications.nnResponsible for duplicating and communicating all safety and good manufacturing practices in accordance with company policy as well as all other company policies.nnTurn on production apparatus such as the pasteurizers and hot melt systems at the beginning of the production shifts. Turn off same at shifts end.nnMechanics are to walk the line all the way to the Palletizer and note any equipment problems that need attention and to see to it that they get fixed ASAP, either by informing their supervisor or lead person to have scheduled for repair.nnEnsure any equipment that has been removed from the line for repair is tagged with all information as to where it came from, why and who removed it with the date they removed it and also when it will be repaired.nnEnsure that ALL parts taken from inventory are reported and charged to that line.nnIf the line runs around the clock the daily PMs still must be done.nnSet-up line as directed. Check out line set-up from previous night.nnTrouble shoot and repair breakdowns as they occur as quickly as possible. Ensure proper operation after repairs.nnVisually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.nnDismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.nnInspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.nnRemoves and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.nnRealigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches.nnLocates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe.nnStarts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.nnRepairs broken parts. Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts.nnAssists engineering to modify sketches or computer generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism.nnPerform line changeovers during and after production as directed.nnPerform preventive maintenance as assigned. All PM Work orders to be signed and dated when completed.nnNotify Production Supervisor/ Production Manager when repair parts are needed.nnTrouble shoot basic electrical system, ie: fuses, contactors, and switches.nnAssist in keeping the maintenance, boiler, compressor and cooling tower rooms neat and in order.nnMust be self-motivated.nnMust be able to work without close supervision.nnOther duties may be assigned.nnPERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED ON THE JOBnnEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:nnHigh School diploma and/or GED. Two to Four years maintenance experience, preferable in Food Processing plant, is necessary. Strong mechanical aptitude is necessary.nnOTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:nnAble to read, write and speak English. Excellent interpersonal skills, team player and an attitude to excel are a must. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.nnMATHEMATICAL ABILITIES:nnAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.nnREASONING ABILITY:nnAbility to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.nnMISC:nnPrevious experience necessary. Ability to operate machinery preferred. Must possess mechanical ability. Bilingual a plus. Computer literate with MS Office. Must have a high level of personal drive to succeed and possess strong leadership, communication and organizational skills. Growth potential exists for an ambitious manufacturing professional.nnSAFETY/GMPnnAll safety policies and procedures will be followed without exception. Safety equipment is required by everyone, and must be worn at all times while on the job or in the manufacturing or warehousing area. Safety equipment includes but is not limited to hearing protection, protective eyewear, hard sole shoes with leather upper, gloves, hairnet and beard net. Loose fitting clothing, hooded garments, drawstrings and buttons are not allowed in any area of the plant facility.nnPHYSICAL DEMANDS:nnWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The associate frequently is required to stand and walk. The associate is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.nnWORK ENVIRONMENT:nnWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes/odors or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The associate frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The associate is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
