About this role Responsible for serving as the lead worker for all maintenance mechanics on site. Determines appropriate priorities, methods, assignments, and scheduling of all work orders and other maintenance required to keep the campus in safe and good operational condition. Performs routine maintenance tasks, general mechanical activities, plumbing, and carpentry repairs. Ability to utilize journeyman level skills to carry out maintenance tasks. Ability to work a fluctuating schedule and rotating weekends.
What a day of a Maintenance Mechanic Lead looks like :
- Coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance of buildings and grounds. Plans, directs, and controls the work of people who do not report directly to you, but who provide support to the goals and objectives of your organization.
- Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment,
- Maintains and repairs machinery, mechanical equipment, physical structure of buildings and grounds of campus and college. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations.
- Assists electricians with installation and repair electrical wiring, fixture, and equipment. Determines malfunctions and repairs and operates existing electrical appliance and equipment. Maintains electrical systems including air conditioning, light fixtures, and other electrical components.
- Assists plumbers with installation of plumbing fixtures. Cleans clogged drains and toilets and assists in performing other plumbing repairs.
- Routinely operates light equipment and various attachments including dump truck, bucket trucks and other related equipment.
- Changes filter in air conditioners; performs plumbing and electrical repairs on heating and air conditioning or other mechanical systems, as required.
- Repairs and maintains both door and window hardware to insure proper operation and legal compliance of door and window hardware.
- Handles ongoing radio dispatcher duties. Responds to a variety of service order calls and troubleshoots maintenance problems.
- Maintains and performs in a safe workplace and follows established safety practices.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the position
- Four years of related experience to include experience as lead worker or indirect supervisor
- Journeyman Level Trade certification or experience
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in:
- Delivering a high level of customer service
- Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to:
- Use a variety hand and power tools, machines, and equipment
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Journeyman level trade certification
Preferred, but not a must :

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $21.10 hourly; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
