We are looking for a proactive, adaptable, and talented Sourcing Manager in the Chicago, IL area for our client in the wallcovering industry. The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preproduction workflow and managing vendor relationships to support the development of innovative wallcovering products. This role bridges the creative vision of the Art Department with the operational aspects of sourcing, production, and supplier partnerships, ensuring quality, availability, and cost-efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, discover, and analyze potential new suppliers on a global scale, focusing on strategic partnerships to provide access to world-class technology and cost-effectiveness.
- Continuously evaluate supplier performance through quality, lead time, and inventory metrics, driving improvement and aligning with business goals.
- Lead preproduction workflows, including the creation of schedules, budget plans, and item setup for new products.
- Work closely with the Art Studio to develop new products, from initial concept through the product life cycle, ensuring alignment with creative and commercial goals.
- Lead annual productivity projects and cost improvement studies, focusing on value optimization and efficiency.
- Monitor and report key performance metrics monthly, providing insights and solutions to optimize supplier performance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, or preproduction, preferably within printed home décor, wall coverings, or consumer goods.
- Experience in material development, sourcing, and vendor management, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.
- Ability to engage in both strategic and hands-on aspects of sourcing and production.
- Strong understanding of global supplier landscapes, with the ability to build diverse supplier relationships.
- Travel to supplier visits and trade shows as needed
