Position Overview:

The Production Supervisor at Trilliant Food and Nutrition is responsible for employee safety, product quality, and asset performance while delivering the on-time production plan. People leadership includes participating in the hiring process, employee onboarding, performance management, and developing corrective and preventative actions when quality, production, or safety standards are not met.



The position requires proactive collaboration with other teams on-site and within the Trilliant organization to ensure that the production area and team(s) are fully aligned and engaged within the organizational requirements. The leader will model and demonstrate a workplace culture that engages and motivates all team members. A focal point will be placed on delivering production results based upon key performance indicators.



Responsibilities:

Training

  • Model and champion safe work environment behaviors.
  • Review SOP’s and documents. Validate accuracy and current version compliance.
  • Create and submit SOP’s or documents to Document Control as needed.
  • Verify new hire training competency through a read, review, and performance evaluation of all required tasks per documented SOP’s.
  • Assure understanding and competency of all team members on completion of tasks based upon SOP requirements, inclusive of equipment, safety procedures, and GMP requirements.
  • Initiate and train on new procedures, and verify accountability and consistency across all shifts and teams.
  • Assesses, identifies, and addresses training opportunities, including job skills training and goal setting; facilitates effective team meetings, and rewards and recognizes the team’s progress.
  • Ensures appropriate level and depth of cross-training in each area through optimal use of all training tools and experience available.



Quality

  • Verify quality compliance objectives are met per quality, sanitation, food safety processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and verify compliance of hourly and first piece inspection quality checks.
  • Perform SQF internal audits and collaborate with QA team to verify continuous compliance.
  • Active participation in root cause analysis including preventative and corrective action plans.
  • Verify compliance with GMP policies including uniforms, tool usage, and hygiene requirements.



Production Performance

  • Responsible for effective formal and informal employee coaching, performance management and development.
  • Monitor all downtime on every line. Escalate to the appropriate parties upon the escalation process.
  • Document and verify accuracy of production for all lines including output, overall downtime, downtime reasons, etc.
  • Track and trend employee output and performance based on the daily performance.
  • Review daily performance achievements, opportunities, and variances during pre-shift meetings.
  • Develop and implement action plans to effectively manage downtime and identify root causes of failures and alternative measures to reduce or eliminate downtime.
  • Facilitate seamless shift transfers by providing key information and performance updates to incoming team members, peers, and leaders.
  • Ensure effective and consistent plant production results.



Other Performance Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively with all employees, peers, and leaders verbally and electronically.
  • Models a positive, resilient, and results-oriented approach.
  • Timely launch of new products and all sales order requirements.
  • Review scheduling needs, and collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Maintenance to obtain the proper line downtime schedules.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and leading continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to take full ownership of the team, identifying opportunities and taking the lead on accomplishing the goals set forth independently and as assigned.
  • Other job duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, business, management, or related area of study is preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience including hiring, employee development, performance coaching, and day-to-day supervision of multiple lines in a production environment.
  • 5+ years of plant manufacturing experience in a food industry or related manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills. Can build a positive and productive team environment.
  • Experienced in the implementation, training and administration of SOP, OSHA, GMP, SQF, HACCP or other quality, food, and human safety programs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and judgment skills.
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office tools and ERP systems.
  • Responsible for following food safety/quality/regulatory policies and procedures, executing responsibilities as identified in standard operating procedures, and reporting food safety/quality/regulatory concerns to the Production or Quality Manager.
  • Knowledge of food packaging principles, food industry quality and food safety requirements, ingredient performance and interactions with equipment, sanitation procedures, statistical process control, critical control points, and new product scale-up dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively manage projects and manage change.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate well cross-functionally and work well at all levels of the organization.

Hours, Location and Pay:

We offer a competitive base pay rate and comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. The Production Supervisor position is located at our Little Chute, WI production facility and works a 2-2-3 schedule 5:45pm – 6:00am.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. This employee may occasionally have to operate business machines and lift and/move up to 50 pounds.
