Quality Manager-Plastics

JOB PURPOSE:
Manage the development and implementation of goals and procedures pertaining to quality assurance and quality control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and coach Quality Inspectors, approve schedules, participate in interviewing, counseling and terminations.
Review and update all manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), current work instruction manuals and create new instructions as needed.
Develop a systematic audit program for quality control checks.
Create quality compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved.
Implement, perform and evaluate testing on all products, confirm that product meets specification, identify and implement preventive actions.
Reduce scrap and related quality costs.
Review and maintain a calibration system.
Develop and implement a color matching system for manufacturing.
Work with Purchasing Department to establish quality requirements for external suppliers and evaluate their performance and encourage continuous improvement.
Promote and maintain positive working relationships. Collaborate with functional departments on quality product issues. Guide all departments in continuous improvement efforts and attend production meetings.
Execute corrective action regarding customer issues and follow up to ensure the corrective action remains in place.
Manage the customer satisfaction measurement system.
Prepare all State required documentation as needed i.e. Product Specific Quality Control Plan.
Facilitate the Management Review and distribution of minutes.
Identify and provide all relevant quality-related training.
Manage department budget.
Cross functional responsibilities among corporate and operational office to perform additional duties as required.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in quality control/assurance or similar discipline or equivalent work experience.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma, ISO 9001:2008 or equivalent is a plus.
5yrs of plastic manufacturing experience required-Rotational molding preferred
Statistical process control experience is a plus.
Strong quality systems experience is a plus
Superior analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Self starter with the ability to work independently yet able to work with all employee levels.
