As the Director of Transportation, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the transportation department within the organization. You will play a key role in developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize transportation operations and ensure efficiency.
Responsibilities Include:
· Lead and manage the transportation, drivers and owner-operators team to achieve departmental goals
· Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures
· Oversee the planning and coordination of transportation activities
· Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices
· Optimally utilize all transportation assets and related equipment
· Collaborate with senior leadership to align transportation strategies with overall business objectives
· Create and manage the transportation budget, review and approve all department expenses
· Resolve transportation related issues to ensure customer satisfaction
· Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors and carriers
· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards, including DOT and insurance requirements
· Collaborate with the Transportation New Business Development Director to ensure new customers and contracts can be properly serviced
· Properly enter and document all load related information
Required Experience:
· 6-10 years’ experience managing a transportation/fleet operation. Experience providing strategic leadership to a transportation department, including company drivers and owner operators.
· 6-10 years’ experience managing a team, preferably with a specialization in transportation
· Experience with transportation related laws, rules, and regulations.
· This is an in-person, office-based position in Grand Forks, ND.
· Experience creating an annual budget and managing a transportation operation’s P&L.
· Outstanding verbal and written skills, and adept at providing executive-level presentations
· Proficient in Transportation Management Systems (Planning, Dispatch, Customer Portals, Load Scheduling) and Microsoft Office products.
· Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management.
