Looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and prototype device systems and subsystems. This is a project based position. Roughly 6 months but can be an extended project based on business need. You can start ASAP and this is primarily a remote position with the need to come onsite 1 to 2 times a week. Looking for someone local to the area or can commute to King of Prussia 1 to 2 times a week.
Education: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and prototype device systems and subsystems using CAD, with proficiency in prototyping methods like 3D printing or machining.
- Conduct analytical assessments to guide design choices and address device functionality, reliability, safety, cost, and scalability risks.
- Manage external suppliers, conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturing) reviews, and attend onsite as needed.
- Generate and manage intellectual property (IP) is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and statistical software like Minitab for data analysis, experiment design, and tolerance calculations.
- Skilled in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and basic test fixtures; experience with 2D drawings for components and assemblies preferred.
- Familiarity with metrology methods and managing vendors for metrology and test activities.
- Experience in precision machined component design for low to mid-volume production in regulated industries (e.g., medical, aerospace, automotive), including DFM and cost reduction.
- Competent in producing mechanical and assembly drawings per ASM Y14.5 standards.
- Work in final assembly environments, assisting in process development and manufacturing optimization to meet design requirements.
