Title: Purchasing Manager - Food (Bilingual Japanese)

Essential Job Functions:
• Develops and execute purchasing strategies to support the Company’s business objectives.
• Negotiates with vendors for the best possible price and service guarantee.
• Researches and develop products for the Company to increase sales and revenue.
• Monitors and forecasts upcoming demand and develops new supply source if necessary.
• Reviews inventory and investigates discrepancies.
• Manages and develops food safety programs for hazard analysis, sanitation, recall, etc.
• Oversees quality control and ensures compliance with government food safety standards and regulations.
• Coordinates with purchasing employees in other locations to negotiate discounts for bulk purchases and optimizes efficiency.
• Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department and provides constructive and timely feedback, training, and coaching.
• Attends Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit in an office setting for the majority of the day
• Ability to type for extended periods throughout the day
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to use the phone for extended periods of time
• Working Conditions
o Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the office
Other Requirements:
• Business level English – Read/write/speak/listen
• Business level Japanese highly preferred
• To have and maintain a clean driving record
• Maintain a positive attitude
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
• 5+ years of relevant experience required.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Intermediate mathematical knowledge – markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
• Mentoring, coaching and people management skills
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency
• Knowledge of Japanese foods and sakes highly preferred
