This role is a hourly contract / consulting position anticipated to last 1-2 months, with flexible hours on an as needed / as available basis (approximately 4-8 hours per day, 3-5 days per week). The work will be onsite at our labs in San Carlos, CA.

Our Mission: Engage Bio is a Y Combinator-backed, seed-stage biotech developing a new class of genetic medicines. Our Tethosome platform solves the two main challenges of non-viral DNA therapies: low expression and toxicity caused by innate immune detection. Tethosomes achieve 100x higher expression than traditional DNA and evade detection by the innate immune system, finally enabling potent and safe non-viral DNA therapies. The programmability and specificity of Tethosomes enable broad therapeutic applications ranging from gene replacement to cancer immunotherapy.

The Role: We are seeking a Contract / Consulting Scientist (Recombinant Protein Expression & Purification) . You will be responsible for optimizing E. coli expression of recombinant proteins and performing purification using standard methods (HIS-purification, size exclusion, ion exchange, and/or desalting columns on an AKTA FPLC). The goal of the position is to design and establish a robust expression and purification method which can be transferred to other team members when complete.

Based on performance and ongoing needs, there may be opportunities to transition to a full time role following completion of this contract period.

Your Experience: PhD in Chemistry, Biology or related field or Bachelors/Masters Degree plus significant (5+ years) relevant experience. This role requires experience in E. coli recombinant protein expression, protein isolation, and purification techniques; we would appreciate you noting your experience in these areas in a cover letter or message along with your CV.
