Aerospace CNC Programmer and OperatorPosition Title: Aerospace CNC Programmer and Operator Department: Aerospace Reports to: Aerospace Value Stream Manager Shift: 3rd Position Summary The CNC Programmer and Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate nonmetallic parts. The CNC Programmer and Operator uses Mastercam and/or Mastercam for SolidWorks. This position requires overtime. Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities This position includes (but is not limited to) the following essential functions: Create and edit CNC programs in G-code or with CAM system Program complex molds, dies, and trim tooling using CAD data from engineering Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors (e.g., speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut) or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media Effectively present before groups of customers and/or employees representing RMB Decipher mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane Critically think through problem-solving and respond to a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists Machine setup and operation includes but is not limited to: Gather materials and tooling to run specific job, which includes verifying tooling is available; prekit for upcoming jobs Load material and establish part origin and tool length offsets Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines (e.g., mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers) Set up and operate machines for a trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machine controls or control media as required Complete first article run of parts and make follow-up adjustments as needed Use micrometers and calipers to mark and scribe dimensions for reference points on material or work piece for guides for subsequent machining Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment; test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance Quality control: Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly issues Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications Requirements and Qualifications Due to U.S. State Department restrictions on access to space technology, candidates must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 22 CFR 120-130 Four to eight years of related experience and/or training Working knowledge of MS Office software and other documentation programs Ability to read and interpret documents, diagrams, and procedure manuals Adequately write routine reports and correspondence Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Requires a flexible and cooperative attitude, including when asked to perform other duties or tasks that are not listed within this job description but are within the scope of this position Communication skills both written and oral in the English language Requires excellent safety practices, which includes keeping a clean work area Multitask with great attention to detail, ensuring compliance with industry standards; produce a quality product in line with customer expectations Effectively process changes through RMB feedback and reviews Requires personal responsibility and accountability to meet workmanship standards with little supervision to complete assignments Must maintain the confidentiality of all projects, customers, and RMB Must understand and follow oral and written instructions of the Aerospace Value Stream Manager, Manager's representative, or customer Effectively process changes through RMB feedback and reviews Physical Requirements and Hazards The employee will be required to: Stand while working with machinery Sit at a computer work Lift no more than 50 pounds alone and assist in team lifts of more than 50 pounds Pass a drug test and agree to a federal and civil background check Hazards: RMB Products enforces all safety regulations.
