Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Inc. (GLFHC) is a multi-site, mission-driven, non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to a culturally diverse population throughout the Merrimack Valley.Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.
GLFHC is currently seeking an Outreach and Enrollment (O&E) Assistor. Under the supervision of Director Patient Access, the O&E Assistor performs all functions necessary to educate and assist patients who lack access to healthcare and health insurance information and education about the portal for insurance enrollment and in applying for appropriate coverage. The O&E Assistor is responsible for assisting in the resolution of any insurance or referring to ancillary services for resolution of financial issues to ensure coverage for services.In addition to "inreach" assistance to the GLFHC patient population, the O&E Assistor is will be the back-up to support the O&E Specialist in conducting community based outreach and education activities with community partners, with the goal of assisting and enrolling as many constituents into appropriate insurance products to ensure coverage.
- Educates patients on various health insurance options via the Health Insurance Market plan and Health exchange portal.
- Provide structured and accurate patient education on health coverage, engage in follow-up and offer renewal assistance for enrolled individuals.
- Working with O&E Specialist, attend community events in order to facilitate education and enrollment of community members in Health Exchange as scheduled.
- Assists community members with enrollment in all available insurance plans (Mass Health, Healthy Start, etc.) When required, assists patients in completing Sliding Fee Applications and explain Health Center policies.
- At community outreach events, set up appointments and schedule community members for O&E assistance at clinic sites, if necessary (due to time-sensitive events and crowd flow).
Qualifications: Experience - Bilingual/Bicultural (English/Spanish)
- Verbal and Written expression in both English/Spanish
- Experience working with health insurance options
- Experience building relationships with community agencies
- Experience in planning and implementing projects and coordination of functions and setting goals and meeting timelines promptly
- Knowledge of community resources
- Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certified or willing to become CAC certified within 2 months of hire
Education - High School Diploma. Associates degree preferred in a human services field or equivalent experience
