Metal Shop Supervisor

Summary:
Under the general direction of the Senior Production Manager, this position will lead and oversee all elements of production in the Metal Shop.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct daily activities in the metal shop, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
Implement strategies to enhance safety, morale, and productivity, fostering a positive work environment.
Supervise, train, and provide guidance to Machine Operators and Laborers, ensuring compliance with processes and work instructions.
Conduct performance reviews, address any issues proactively, and enforce adherence to policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Oversee production schedules, prioritize incoming orders, and ensure production accuracy per specifications.
Coordinate closely with Engineering to address design changes, tooling adjustments, and new program requirements.
Review key performance metrics daily, participate in accountability meetings, and produce ad-hoc reports for management to drive continuous improvement.
Oversee material orders (MOs), manage inventory, control overtime, and schedule resources to meet strict deadlines.
Ensure effective resource allocation while maintaining a clean, organized department.
Identify and implement improvements in methods, equipment, and efficiency.
Promote 5S standards, encourage problem-solving at all levels, and ensure issues are standardized and communicated across teams.
Supervise the selection of new equipment and tooling, preparing budget justifications for necessary improvements in department operations.
Coach and mentor team members to foster problem-solving skills and support their professional growth within the organization.
Perform additional supervisory duties as required to support department and organizational goals.
Requirements and Skills:
High School diploma or GED.
Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing or metal shop environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to assess and resolve problems efficiently.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and other Office programs; experience with MRP systems (MS Dynamics or similar) is an asset.
Knowledge of CNC Turret Punching Machines, Spot Welding, Press Brake, and Stud machines.
Ability to perform basic math.
