The Ultra Sonobuoys Systems Tooling Team is looking to add a Tooling Technician. The technician in this role will be responsible for building and integrating tooling, fixturing, and equipment used in the manufacturing of our products. This is a hands-on role that will involve a high level of electro-mechanical assembly practices to help manufacture our products.
We offer a Monday-Thursday schedule with opportunity for OT on Fridays!

Nationality Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Duties Responsible:
  • Mechanical assembly of fixturing and custom-built equipment
  • Supports manufacturing equipment throughout the build, test, and implementation stages of the system life cycle
  • Produces simple parts based on the engineering and design drawing requirements meeting time and quality specifications
  • Interprets drawings, dimensions and tolerances to set up equipment
  • Maintain and update current manufacturing tooling and equipment as needed
  • Set-up and debug new fixturing and equipment
  • Must be capable of troubleshooting issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate basic machine shop equipment including but not limited to CNC and manual mills, manual lathes, grinders, saws, brakes and shears
  • Develop and design specialized tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality
  • Responsible for staying in compliance with EEO, ADA and all other applicable governmental requirements the company is required to be in compliance with.
  • All staff is required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety by adhering to established safety policies and procedures, to not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual and to wear personal protective equipment as specified in work instructions.
  • Performs all other duties as required, requested or needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate must possess the following

  • Training or degree with minimum 1 year experience or non degreed with 3 years minimum related practical experience
  • Experience with presses, welding, drilling, grinding, and lathes to create parts within the customer requirements
  • Experience in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA, is essential. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication, is also important
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatics, electrical, and automation systems
  • Ability to integrate and/or modify controls to existing processes
  • Ability to specify PLC and electrical replacement components for industrial machines
  • Ability to work on many projects simultaneously
  • Experience with robotic programming
  • Experience with PLC controls and wiring
  • Problem-solving capability
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience in manufacturing assembly and automation
  • Fabrication and basic machining experience

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in related practical machine shop
  • Prior experience in creating wiring schematics
