Job DescriptionPackaging Machine Operator - Forsyth, MOThis is a full-time, hourly position.Colleagues hired into the role will work a schedule of Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm for training purposes.At the beginning of 2025, colleagues will be transitioned to 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm. A $2.00 shift differential applies on top of base pay.SUMMARY:To set up, operate and tear down bottling and packaging machines in the packaging department and to ensure all product passes inspection before being sent to the customer. There will be opportunities for cross-training in the Blending Department and the Encapsulation Department.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time. Attendance is key to performing the job. Include, but are not limited to, the following;* Assemble, set up, operate independently and tear down/ disassemble all equipment involved in the departmental process for a total of up to twenty or more different pieces of equipment.* Conduct visual inspection of packaged product to detect and remove defective products.* Conduct visual inspection of overall bottle and remove defective products prior to packaging.* Ensure cleaning and general maintenance of all departmental equipment and packaging areas.* Responsible for documentation of batch/lot numbers, dates and various other data.* Ensure proper lock-out tag-out procedures are consistently followed.* Operate equipment to place metered amounts of powder into containers.* Conduct visual inspection of packaged product to detect and remove defective products.* Ensure proper PPE is utilized.* Non-Essential Responsibilities:* Keep hoppers full/stocked.* Ensures floors are free of debris.* Ensure empty boxes and materials are properly disposed of.EQUIPMENT USED:* Automatic and semi-automatic packaging and bottling equipment, including but not limited to bottle orientation, bottle filling/counting, desiccant insertion, cotton insertion, capping, collection, labeling, shrink banding, ink coding, boxing, and product moving equipment. PPE required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:* High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience.* Basic computer skills are necessary.LANGUAGE SKILLS:* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.* Ability to write simple correspondence.* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.* Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.REASONING ABILITY:* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.* Must have manual dexterity, attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.* Must be able to multi-task and work at a fast pace.* Must understand and conform to all safety guidelines.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
