Job Description

FlexStaff is seeking a Machine Maintenance Machine Mechanic for our Client, a scientific manufacturer company located in the Bronx, NY to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.

Full-time schedule: Monday-Friday. The schedule will depend on both the production needs and the current mechanics' shifts. Typically, the standard shift runs Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. We prefer someone with flexibility in their schedule. As we currently have a mechanic who starts early, it may be advantageous for the new hire to have a slightly later shift, for example 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, to better cover operational hours.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance, particularly in a food manufacturing environment, a minimum of 2 years’ experience of industrial machine set-up and change over per SOP, ability to diagnose & troubleshoot.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Equipment Maintenance : Perform routine preventive maintenance on all production and packaging equipment, including conveyors, mixers, ovens, and other machinery used in food processing.

Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.

Installation & Upgrades: Assist in the installation, modification, and upgrade of new and existing equipment, ensuring that all machinery meets safety and operational standards.

Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Identify and correct potential safety hazards.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts inventory. Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) where applicable.

Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to identify and address mechanical issues that could impact production efficiency or product quality. Provide technical support and training to operators as needed.

Emergency Response: Respond to equipment failures and other emergencies during regular and off-hours as required, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
