Director of Recruiting

The Director of Recruiting leads the overall recruitment and retention function for Universal Logistics Production Employees. This role provides professional support and advice to the hiring managers and recruitment team on recruitment and retention best practices. This role will also oversee recruitment advertising, prepares job advertisements and decides best placement of the recruitment advertisements while working with the recruitment team to develop creative solutions to attract and retain staff.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and drive the recruitment strategy, which involves managing a team of recruiters, establishing goals and performance metrics, creating organizational recruitment plans and budget with the time lines and stakeholder accountability to address short and long term recruitment needs
  • Create and update position descriptions for information gathering efforts with the internal team and leaders in the organization.
  • Generate and distribute reports with key metrics to inform and educate leaders on the process and progress of searches
  • Identify recruitment priorities based on company needs.
  • Utilize data and metrics to make informed decision and strategies
  • Complete market reviews and work with recruitment team in making annual market adjustment recommendations
  • Seek out information on trends and industry changes that effect recruitment efforts
  • Develops retention strategies using real time data to understand sources of turnover


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge and high level of comfort with applicant tracking and recruitment systems, models and methodologies. Strong professional recruitment network and knowledge of external recruitment practices and trends.
  • Ensuring applicants meet federal and local eligibility requirements
  • Demonstrated executive presence, including strong consulting skills, written, oral and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate and influence others. Impeccable judgment and professionalism in handling and communicating confidential and sensitive employee or prospective employee data.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff, and to cultivate strong relationships across organizational boundaries.
