Salary: $61,370 - $76,200 per year

We transform lives by providing a safe and supportive environment where children and youth can speak about their experiences to professionals, heal from adverse childhood experiences and build resilience so they can overcome the debilitating effects of childhood trauma and realize their potential.


Working collaboratively with the Niagara Regional Police Service, Family and Children’s Services Niagara, and Family Counselling Centre Niagara, the Centre is a charitable, community supported organization that serves Niagara’s 12 municipalities helping children, youth and families cope with the life altering impact of physical or sexual abuse, neglect, or of being an unwilling witness to violence.


Job Summary


We are seeking a Development Director to play a pivotal role in advancing the Centre’s mission by leading fundraising efforts, cultivating donor relationships, and building community partnerships. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, securing major gifts, and ensuring the financial sustainability of our programs and services.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategic plan with clear annual targets and long-term goals.
  • Build and oversee an integrated development program that includes major gifts, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, annual giving, and special events.
  • Align fundraising efforts with the Centre’s mission, vision, and values, and support its strategic and operational plans.


Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, developing tailored strategies for donor engagement and recognition.
  • Ensure exceptional donor relations through personalized communication, recognition programs, and impact reporting.


Pipeline Development & Prospecting:

  • Identify new funding opportunities through research and community engagement.
  • Build a robust pipeline of prospective donors, partners, and sponsors.
  • Lead solicitation efforts, including proposal development and presentations, for major gifts and corporate sponsorships.


Special Events & Community Engagement:

  • Lead planning and execution of signature fundraising events, ensuring alignment with the Centre’s mission and fundraising goals.
  • Engage volunteers, donors, and community stakeholders in event planning and execution.
  • Represent the Centre at community events, building its profile and fostering partnerships.


Team Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director, staff, and Board of Directors to achieve fundraising objectives.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress, donor engagement, and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising initiatives with marketing, communications, and program delivery.


Qualifications


  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. CFRE designation is considered an asset.


  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising and development, preferably in a nonprofit or charitable organization.
  • Proven track record of securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grants.


  • Skills:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and connect with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, CanadaHelps) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with CRA regulations and charitable giving practices in Canada.

Other Requirements
