FLSA STATUS Non-exempt SUPERVISOR(S) Principal Director of Facilities Coordinator of Facilities REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of tools, materials and methods to safely perform the work required connected with resurfacing and shampooing floors. Ability to read, write and follow instructions. Ability to do simple mathematics. Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, carry and reach over head. Ability to do grounds keeping and minor maintenance. Ability to follow written or oral instructions. Ability to supervise summer workers. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions and temperatures. Ability to supervise work of housekeepers. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies. Ability to get along with students, teachers and the general public. Ability to climb and work from ladders or scaffolds, and moving furniture, textbooks and supplies. Adequate strength and dexterity to perform all tasks including lifting, stooping and bending. JOB GOAL To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, work and develop. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean. Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperature appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Sweeps and/or vacuums classrooms daily and dusts furniture. Scrubs, hoses down and disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily. Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it. Washes all windows on both the inside and the outside at least one time a year, and more frequently if necessary. Cleans chalkboards as directed. Makes minor repairs and performs maintenance duties as needed. Reports needs for major repairs promptly to the principal. Reports immediately to the principal any damage to the school property. Remains on the school premises during established work hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and attendance is required by the principal. Attends work on a regular basis. Reports work-related injuries as required. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights turned off, except those left on for safety reasons. Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment, and requisitions needed replacements from the principal on a timely basis. Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principals. Complies with appropriate laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste and maintains acceptable health and safety standards regarding the use of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, etc. as directed. Adheres to rules and regulations. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Performs other related duties as may be assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy Manual, Students First Act and the Board's Salary Schedule - Custodian - Grade I (197-Day) and Grade II (240-Day). EVALUATION Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel - GCRK and GCRK-R.
