Payroll Specialist - Remote, Permanent Position


Our client, a reputable non-profit organization, is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team on a remote, permanent basis. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the accurate processing of new hires, terminations, and other employment status changes.
  • Input employee data and payroll information into the payroll system with precision.
  • Manage promotions, terminations, pay adjustments, and bonus payments accurately.
  • Maintain organized and accurate payroll records, including employee data, deductions, and tax information.
  • Actively participate in payroll audits and provide required documentation as needed.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll or benefits.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll taxes, WCB, WSIB, and EHT payments.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including third-party agencies and service providers.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Time and Attendance systems in relation to payroll functions.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including T4 processing and distribution, ensuring compliance with both federal and provincial regulations.
  • Administer group benefits plans, including setting up new members, processing benefit changes, calculating payroll deductions/taxable benefits, and ensuring timely completion of related paperwork.
  • Continuously develop, implement, and support efficient payroll practices and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • PCP Certification required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Payroll Administrator or similar role, with comprehensive knowledge of full-cycle payroll processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced functions like Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and HLOOKUPs.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and payroll processing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A University or College diploma/degree in finance or accounting is an asset.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
