Job Description
The Psychiatrist/Physician Specialist, in conjunction with the Sr. Associate Director, has clinical responsibility for monitoring recipient treatment and staff delivery of clinical services. The Psychiatrist/Physician Specialist provides psychiatric and medical assessment and treatment; clinical supervision, education, and training of the team; development, maintenance, and supervision of medication and administration and psychiatric and medical treatment and procedures.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Along with the Sr. Associate Director, provides clinical leadership in assessment, treatment planning, general healthcare, medical and psychosocial approaches.
• Collaborate with each nurse practitioner and/or clinical nurse specialist, in assessment, treatment planning, general healthcare, medical and psychosocial approaches, and a review of each client's progress and treatment.
• Provide supervision, consultation and training to other nurse practitioners in both the Adult OPD and ACT program members regarding the client's psychiatric care, including pharmacologic management needs.
• Work with consumers and staff in developing and implementing and approving person centered individual treatment plans which address psychiatric issues.
• Collaborate with other providers as necessary (i.e., inpatient psychiatrists, primary care physicians).
Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from an approved medical school.
2. Completion of approved residency or fellowship in the specialty or sub-specialty and Board eligible or certified or Subboard eligible or certified.
3. Five years experience in field of specialty or subspecialty acceptable to the Medical Board of the Hospital.
4. Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:
CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):
1. Graduation from a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.
2. Completion of an acceptable internship in an approved hospital.
3. A license to practice medicine in the State of New York.
4. Certification by the American Board in the field of specialization or a faculty appointment of Associate Professor or higher in a medical school recognized by the American Medical Association.
5. Current DEA registration is required.
6. Have thorough knowledge of psychological diagnoses, therapeutics, pharmaceuticals and medico legal issues.
COMPUTER PROGRAMS/SOFTWARE OPERATED
Computer skills, including Microsoft Word.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of satisfactory experience in the field of specialty or sub-specialty acceptable to the Medical Board of the Hospital
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
1. Medical degree from a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.
2. Completion of approved Psychiatry Residency or fellowship in the specialty or sub-specialty and board eligible or certified or Sub-board eligible or certified.
KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:
1. Policies and programs utilized in the operation of a healthcare facility, ability to assimilate and analyze data to recommend action based on analytical findings and to assist in the solution of complex problems in healthcare administration.
