Job Title: Supply Chain Intern
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Manufacturing and Supply Chain
Reports to: Director, Supply Chain
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
As a Supply Chain Intern, you will get broad exposure to our Supply Chain organization and leadership team. Our interns gain invaluable job experience, career development and leadership opportunities. You will receive both technical and leadership training to enhance your skill set. Interns work with cross-functional teams to drive performance improvements and receive a great introduction to our collaborative, fun and engaging culture. Interns will identify, work on, and present a project that will benefit you as well as the plant facility and our organization. This position is administrative support driven. It collaborates with all parties in the Supply Chain Department, and performs functions, and tasks in support of functional areas including Sourcing, Procurement, Inventory Control, Logistics and Distribution, and manufacturing scheduling/planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional & Technical Skills
  • Supply chain interns include experiences in; Procurement/Sourcing of materials at a regional and global level, material planning, fulfillment, logistics, and distribution as well as lean manufacturing principles (process improvements, manufacturing/process engineering).
  • There will be project-oriented assignments where a manager is assigned for your support, growth, and development, and evaluation/feedback. Your project may focus on one or multiple of the following areas.
    • Develop and drive supply chain optimization
    • Work within the Sourcing/Procurement function driving strategic initiatives
    • Evaluate strategic data analytics that drives recommendations
    • Execute process improvements within the Supply Chain function
    • Supply and demand planning
    • Logistics & Distribution regionally and globally
  • Supply chain assignments vary throughout the depth and breadth of supply chain. For example, a fulfillment assignment may include working on material shortage issues and materials planning, while a sourcing assignment will entail working closely with the engineering team and strategic suppliers to identify opportunities for productivity -reducing costs- and supplier consolidation. A lean manufacturing assignment may include working on process improvements on the manufacturing floor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • >3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Currently a full-time student, junior status or higher pursuing a Bachelor's in Supply Chain/Operations Management, Finance, or related business discipline. The individual shall also have completed the "core" coursework for his/her chosen discipline.
  • Strong initiative and ability to in teams and individually without direct supervision.
  • Proficient in basic computer programs/business software: Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to relocate in commutable distance to Hamel, MN from approximately June-August 2025 and able to work for a minimum of 11 weeks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Resourceful and innovative in finding solutions to ambiguous problems
  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong commitment to a career in Supply Chain, Procurement/Sourcing, and Operational Mgmt. in a manufacturing company
  • Demonstrated analytic approach to problem-solving
  • Knowledge of LEAN or Continuous Improvement practices
  • Leadership experience in student groups, volunteer experience & related extracurriculars
  • Prior work on projects in a team environment (relevant academic projects and/or previous internship experience)
