Hospice nurses provide end of life care to help ensure the comfort and quality of life for their patients. They primarily work in collaborative, team-driven environments that require frequent communication with their patients, families and other caregivers. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, patient and calm. Hospice nurses are caring and kind individuals who possess a special hospice heart who can help our patients celebrate the rest of their life’s journey.

Hours of operation: 8:30am - 5pm and weekend requirement

Duties and Responsibilities
n
n - The registered nurse is responsible to 1) coordinate the care for the patient/family under the direction of the primary physician, 2) conduct assessment of the patient/family needs, 3) develop the IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) Care Plan, and 4) ensure the implementation and coordination of the interventions and services described in the care plan.
n - Pledge to make the comfort and care of patients and families the highest priority
n - Consistently provide a high level of personalized, sincere and engaging service to patients and families at all times
n - Ensure the complete satisfaction of patients and families
n - Promptly and effectively address all concerns.

Qualifications
nn
Education/Regulatory Requirements: n n - RN degree from a college or university, accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
n - Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Florida.
n - BSN preferred
n - Hospice certification preferred.
n - Current Basic Life Support Certification.
n

Skills: n n - Adequate and reliable means of transportation with adequate insurance and valid Florida driver’s license.
n - One year in public health, home nursing care, oncology nursing, medical/surgical nursing, geriatric nursing or Hospice nursing preferred.
n - Understanding of and ability to apply characteristics of Hospice Nursing: case management, crisis intervention, communication skills, teaching skills, thanatology skills and needs
n - Basic computer skills and EMR software experience a plus.

Professional Requirements: n n - Able to communicate effectively with other Hospice care personnel.
n - Able to coordinate with other health care providers in the delivery of patient care.
n - Able to work effectively with lay and professional volunteers.
n
n
Language Skills: n n - Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
