Description The Radiology RN practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing, specializing in the assessment, planning, care and treatment of patients undergoing radiological examinations, procedures by identify patient risks and contraindications and monitoring patient status to detect any changes that may require medical intervention and observe for unexpected patient reactions.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Coordinates communication between clinics, providers, front office staff an imaging department.
- Reviews assessment information to identify patient risks and contraindications for specific imaging tests.
- Monitors patient status during procedures to detect any changes that may require medical intervention.
- Adjusts and positions patients to manage their pain levels, maintain comfort and optimal image quality.
- Provides patients and their families with post-procedure and/or discharge instructions.
- Responds to emergencies and adverse events after the procedure.
- Works with the pre-cert team on procedures to ensure our ability to take care of a patient at this facility.
- Provides on-site patient care to all patients, including coordination of care with physicians, other staff members, and ancillary services when needed.
- Starts intravenous catheters and infusion ports. Administers medicines, monitors vital signs, and assists patients with any personal needs.
- Provides patient teaching on all new patients regarding the disease, treatment information, and available support services and counseling options as indicated.
- Triages telephone calls, resolves patient issues and concerns, reviews problems with physicians, and take appropriate action.
- Communicates to the Radiologist the status of the patient's medical status (healthiness or unhealthiness) to undergo a radiologic procedure.
- Performs duties including administering intravenous fluids, monitoring vital signs, monitoring patients, and cardiac/pulse oximeters.
- Transports patients to and from procedures.
- Maintains accurate patient charts/records and document nursing actions and functions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION :
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Possess an Arkansas RN license.
- Maintain the required number of continuing education units (CEUs) as specified by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required or to be completed upon hire.
- Obtain Certified Radiology Nurse Exam certification within one year of hire date.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - 3 years clinical experience in direct patient care, preferred.
- Experience in an intensive care, PACU or emergency department, preferred.
- Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
REASONING ABILITY: - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: - Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
