OTs : 1 full-time position for high school caseload working with students with significant cognitive/intellectual disabilities - maternity leave coverage starting mid-FebnnStart Date: Mid - Feb to cover Maternity LeavennSchedule: 37.5 hours a weeknnThe Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible forperforming student evaluations, developing and providing therapy services, anddocumenting services in accordance with the plan of care developed for eachstudent.nnEssential Duties and Responsibilities:nnProvides skilled occupational therapy services/interventionsin accordance with physician ordersnnRegularly reevaluates student for rehabilitation needs, andworks in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcareteam to modify the plan of care as appropriatennCollaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate teamgoals for each studentnnAssesses student’s needs, plans for, evaluates and modifiescare to meet goals of Occupational Therapy InterventionsnnInstructs student/family/caregivers on the student's totaloccupational therapy programnnAdvises, consults and instructs members of themulti-disciplinary team in specific occupational therapy modalitiesnnObserves and reports student progress and/or changes instudent status to the physician and appropriate multi-disciplinary team membersnnDirects OT treatment and develops occupational therapy planof carennRefers individuals to other disciplines as deemedappropriate and as approved by the physiciannnReports reaction to treatment and adverse signs and symptomsto the physician, building/district nurse and the parents/caregiversnnTeaches new skills or retrains students in once-familiardaily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness orinjurynnEstablishes equipment needs to facilitate independentfunctioningnnInstructs student and family/caregiver in the use of varioustypes of adaptive equipment to improve function; ensures equipment is in goodworking ordernnTrains student and family/caregiver in use of prostheticand/or orthotic devicesnnProvides accurate and timely documentation according to theplan of carennParticipates in IEP conferences or other meetings asrequired to ensure coordination of health services (if applicable)nnPrepares and submits clinical progress-summary based on theprogress of goalsnnSupervises Occupational Therapy Assistants according tocompany policies/procedures and State regulationsnnComplies with applicable local, state, and federal laws andregulations regarding professional standards and practice standardsnnMay fabricate splints and instruct individual and/orfamily/caregiver in the use, application and benefitsnnPerforms other duties as assigned/necessarynnMinimum Requirements:nnCurrent licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the Stateof practicennOne (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapyexperience preferrednnParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicablennCurrent CPR if applicablennTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicablennCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)nnMust meet all federal, state and local requirementsnnSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob sitennUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsnnAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requirednnComputer proficiency requirednnMust be at least 18 years of agennBenefitsnnAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:nnCompetitive pay & weekly paychecksnnHealth, dental, vision, and life insurancenn401(k) savings plannnAwards and recognition programsnn*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.nnAbout AmergisnnAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
