Apply today!nnPurpose: Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under physician direction. Demonstrate advanced respiratory care knowledge and perform all duties of a Respiratory Therapist, RRT, across all patient populations and service areas.nnResponsibilities:nnAdminister high-risk therapies (e.g., Nitric Oxide, Tracheal Gas Insufflation) and perform advanced functions in various settings (OR, ED, Cath Lab, etc.).nnConduct bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, breath alcohol testing, EEG, EKG, stress testing, and 24-hour Holter monitoring.nnMonitor patient responses to therapy, perform bronchopulmonary drainage, and assist with breathing exercises.nnMaintain patient charts, order repairs, and demonstrate procedures to trainees and healthcare personnel.nnSupervise students and assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.nnEvaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.nnSet up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient function.nnAct as Lead Respiratory Therapist in the absence of the Supervisor or Manager, providing problem-solving, training, and technique demonstration.nnGraduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required.nnIn lieu of an Associate's degree, must have 5 to 7 years of experience or have an NBRC Certification; Bachelor's degree is preferred.nnTwo (2) years of total respiratory care experience with a minimum of one (1) year in critical care is required.nnMust successfully complete one (1) approved project from the department's project list during each annual performance review period. Project approved within 3 months of hire.nnLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:nnCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.nnEmployees practicing in Pennsylvania: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.nnRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.nnRespiratory Therapists who receive their RRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002 are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements. Employees practicing in Maryland: Maryland Respiratory Therapist license required.nnBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)nnOsteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)nnRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)nnUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
