Primary role is to operate our signature restaurant's beverage program, with a focus on wine. You will be responsible for many aspects of wine service, including:
- Wine list: updating the wine list, and writing wine descriptions
- Wine selection: Advising guests on wine choices based on their tastes, budget, and the occasion
- Wine pairings: Collaborating with chefs to pair wines with food
- Wine service: Ensuring proper wine service, and interacting with guests during tastings
- Wine inventory: Managing the wine cellar, conducting inventory, and understanding sales flow
- Wine training: Training staff on wines and other beverages through tastings and courses
- Wine promotion: Promoting wine sales through education and by procuring unique wines
Sommeliers should have a deep knowledge of wine, as well as an understanding of pricing, budgets, and cost controls.
Job will/may require some heavy lifting.
