Blue Hill at Stone Barns is a two-Michelin star restaurant and leading voice in the sustainable food movement. Together with our nonprofit partner, the Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, we form a research and education institute working to develop a regional and ecological future of food. The dining room is our testing ground and space to showcase new ideas.
The Sommelier is a source of knowledge for all aspects of the restaurant’s wine program and works closely with the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to create a welcoming, hospitable environment for guests.
At Blue Hill, we believe the best culinary professionals continuously strive to deepen their knowledge of food systems, cuisine, and hospitality. As such, you will have the opportunity to participate in weekly education with guest speakers, classes, and training, and be eligible for a stipend for external education and dining opportunities.

- Experience: minimum 4 years as a sommelier in a fine dining establishment and Certified/Advanced Sommeliers through the Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent certification and/or corresponding knowledge and experience.
- Performing all other job-related duties. This position requires manual dexterity and the ability to follow oral/written instructions and procedures. To successfully perform duties, you must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Tasks May Include:
- Assisting in the development of our wine list.
- Receiving, stocking and inventory of wines, liquor and beer.
- Determine and maintain pars for wine BTG and pairing selections.
- Creating a welcoming environment for all guests, including upholding excellence and cleanliness.
- Demonstrating sound knowledge of wine offerings and the ability to suggest beverage pairings, including collaborating with beverage and culinary teams on wine pairing selections.
- Leading and participating in staff wine classes and educational opportunities.
- Work the floor nightly and provide wine and beverage service along with any and all other service needs that arise.
- Following steps of service with poise and fluency, while maintaining a sense of urgency throughout service.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including the seating area.
- Communicating effectively with staff members, management.
- Cultivating a supportive, energetic, and authentic environment for guests and team members.
- Familiarizing new team members with wine program policies and procedures.
- Maintaining kind, constructive communication with team members.
The Details:
- Compensation: Full-time, hourly, commensurate with experience.

- Location & Hours: Full time position in-person at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, NY (~1 hr drive from NYC). Shifts involve working evenings and weekends.
